Enjoy an amazing stay in Havana featuring the flavors, culture, and people of Cuba. Experience Old Havana on a food tour stopping to learn about the city’s history, architecture, and specialty foods (such as chocolates, coffee, churros, malta, and other local favorites)
Cuban cuisine is a blend of Spanish, African, and other Caribbean cuisines. Some Cuban recipes share spices and techniques with Spanish and African cooking, with some Caribbean influence in spice and flavor. This results in a blend of the several different cultural influences.

Day 1 – Arrival to Havana
- At your arrival, you will be assisted at the airport by local English-speaking tour guide. Transfer to Havana on an air-conditioned bus, get a drive by the city suburbs straight to your hotel and check-in at 5-star iconic National hotel
- At 7:30 get pick-up for Welcome Dinner at Paladar, La Guarida or similar choise. Possibility to visit the kitchen for a site cooking demonstration!
Day 2 – Get to know Havana city, the old and the new
- At 9:00 a.m the guide will pick you up to discover the old Havana area, walking tour of the oldest part of town with stops along the way to sample some of the local flavors. You will be visiting the main city squares and learn about the city’s rich history and fascinating architecture.
- Enjoy some local chocolates made with real Cuban cacao, sip on a Cuban “cafecito”, and even sample street foods such as churros or small roasted peanuts (you’ll see people on the street selling cones containing roasted peanuts).
- Lunch at a local Paladar with possibility to visit the kitchen for a site cooking demonstration. Afternoon visit to Havana’s international School of tourism to meet the Chef Students on the spot
- Afternoon drive through New Havana, end your tour at Jose Fuster’s art gallery
- Drive back to hotel and dinner at Cocina de Liliam. possibility to visit the kitchen for a site cooking demonstration, and the rest of evening at leisure

Day 3 – A Culinary day in Havana
- Breakfast at hotel, and have a conference on Cuban Cuisine: its origin, its history, the variety of Cuban dishes, their Spanish, Native, French, Haitian, American and African influence
- Later visit to a Farmer’s market followed by a visit a ration store, lunch at a local Paladar with the possibility to visit the kitchen for a site cooking demonstration
- Afternoon visit the Museum of Rum where you’ll learn about all details of rum production in Cuba, this visit will be followed by stop at a Flea market for Cuban Souvenirs
- Finally, you return to the hotel. There is a free evening for dinner or enjoy an evening at the famed Tropicana Cabaret (not included).

Day 4 – Hemingway’s Day
- At 9:30 a.m. get pick-up by the guide to visit Ernest Hemningway’s Museum, Hemingway became a fixture of Havana, and stayed in the country longer than many Americans chose to after relations between Cuba and the United States began to deteriorate. He fished extensively aboard his boat, Pilar, and enjoyed the island lifestyle, hanging out in Havana, and entertaining guests at the Finca.
- Continue drive to Cojimar, a fishing town where Hemingway kept his Boat, Cojímar is a small fishing town located seven kilometers to the east of Havana. This town is famous for being the setting of Hemingway’s most famous novel: “The Old Man and the Sea,” which allowed him to be awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1954.
- Enjoy Mojitos at Las Terrazas and drive back to Havana to visit a local Gallery.
- Lunch at a local Paladar with the possibility to visit the kitchen for a site cooking demonstration.
- Free afternoon and leisure time, and at 7:00pm get picked up for Farewell Dinner at local Paladar San Cristobal. San Cristóbal Paladar is an environment full of reminiscences that point to our culture and our heritage. The Havana of the 50s stalks us in every corner, in the meticulous composition of each dish. San Cristóbal transports those who visit it to the lost universes that still remain in the works of Lezama
- Recommendations for the evenings include world-famous Tropicana cabaret (the Moulin Rouge of Cuba), Casa de la Musica (there are a few salsa venues in town), Cabaret Parisien, La Zorra y el Cuervo (Jazz), among many others, reservations can be made through your tour-guide or at the hotel sales bureau in the lobby.

Day 5 – Departure day
- After breakfast, get picked up by your guide for outbound flight to USA

Things you need to know to be legal
- American residents and citizens require a valid passport from any country, a Cuban Visitor Visa, and mandatory Cuban emergency medical insurance to enter Cuba. Please check your expiration date of your passport and make sure it will not expire during the trip. Cuban emergency medical insurance is generally included in the cost of commercial airline flights. Confirm with your airline or we will check if we make the airline bookings.

- Plan on spending money in Cuba carefully. Don’t get stuck in Cuba without funds. US credit and debit cards do not work in Cuba. Cash is king so plan according to your spending habits. Click here to learn about Cuba’s unique monetary system
- There is no limit on the amount of money you can spend in Cuba nor is there a limit on the value or quantity of items including alcohol and tobacco products that you bring home for personal use. Amounts exceeding US customs limits, including cigars and alcohol, are subject to US duties
- It is 100% legal to visit Cuba on private or public people-to-people tours.
Here are the things that can cause problems and get you in trouble
- Sneak into Cuba from a third country such as Mexico or Panama for individual travel.
- Lounge around all day and drink mojitos all night and do not follow an itinerary.
- Touristic travel such as sun tanning and relaxing on Cuba’s stunning beaches.
- Purchasing an all-inclusive beach junket from Canada, or joining a tour offered by a non-US company.
